iChagrin.com is a “hyper-local” news site aimed at the Chagrin Falls, Ohio community and surrounding neighborhoods (South Russell, Moreland Hills, and Bentleyville). The news is written exclusively by citizen journalists, and as such is open to all members of the community. To prevent abuse, misuse, and generally inappropriate behavior, the following terms and conditions must be agreed upon when becoming a registered user.

Photos

If you would like to see a photo accompany your article, please email it separately to info@ichagrin.com with the title of the article, the date it was submitted, and your username in the email. Photos cannot be larger than 200px.

By submitting a photo you agree that iChagrin.com can then use that photo anywhere on the site.

General Sense of Decorum

If you’ve ever had an issue in real life with saying something inappropriate accidentally, or sort of on purpose listen closely to the following….

The purpose of the site is to come together as a community to exchange ideas, respectfully agree and disagree, and communicate effectively on common ground. We will not tolerate libelous, rude, or angry behavior of ANY flavor or degree. If you’re not sure if you should put it in writing, don’t. A good rule of thumb: Only post to the site anything you would feel comfortable saying in a face-to-face exchange.

If you feel threatened by a comment or an article that has been posted, you are encouraged to hit the “Report Abuse” button. We will receive a message and make a determination on the severity of the post. We reserve the right at all times to: remove the user from the community, remove the offending post with no warning, remove the offending comment with no warning, send a warning to the offending user, do nothing, or all of the above.

Commenting on someone else’s snarky or inappropriate comment only serves to inflame the situation. Just hit Report Abuse and leave the rest to us.

Commercial Posts

It is unacceptable to submit articles of a commercial/sales nature to the site. If you’re a store having a sale – use the classifieds section entitled “Special Events & Promotions”.

However, if you’re a dentist and want to write an article about the importance of mouth guards, feel free. There’s a difference between overtly trying to sell your wares and positioning yourself as an expert with good information to share.

All nonprofit organizations (schools, churches, groups) are welcome to submit articles concerning any aspects of their organizations including publicizing all events. Even those that require a charge.

Examples of Unacceptable Behavior

• TYPING IN ALL CAPS FOR EFFECT. It’s considered SHOUTING!
• Complaints about how the site is run.
• Attempting to sell products or services in an article.
• Comments or articles that resort to libelous and intimidating behavior to make a point.
• Comments that are immaterial to the topic (ie a user’s article about landscaping should not be followed by a neighbor’s comment that the article’s author keeps a filthy house).
• Guideline: If you wouldn’t say it in a face-to-face situation, then keep it to yourself.

Rights

By posting articles and/or comments you understand that we may: keep the post as-is, edit the post for any reason without warning, delete the post at anytime without warning.

By using the site you understand that:

• iChagrin.com takes no responsibility for the views or posts of the individual users of this site. Responsibility for the content of posts is held by the user submitting the content.
• iChagrin.com can and will delete/edit/remove any post/comment/user account at anytime and without warning.
